PLEXIGLAS® Films
PLEXIGLAS® films are made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and contain polybutyl acrylate (PBA) as an impact modifier.
The films are available with different levels of UV absorbers and offer the following properties:
- weather-resistant
- UV-absorbing
- scratch-resistant (pencil hardness up to 2H)
- completely colorless
- excellent thermoformability
- excellent printability (screen, digital, gravure and flexographic printing)
EUROPLEX® HC* Films
EUROPLEX® HC films are PMMA films coextruded with PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), with the fluoropolymer forming the surface layer. The two polymers are permanently bonded together within the film while remaining insoluble in each other. The films are transparent, UV-absorbing, highly weather-resistant, and feature dirt-repellent properties.
The PVDF layer provides outstanding chemical resistance as well as a stain-resistant surface that is easy to clean.
The PMMA side can be printed using all common ink systems and ensures excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates.
*HC = High Chemical Resistance
PLEXIGLAS® and EUROPLEX® COC Films
Our PLEXIGLAS® and EUROPLEX® COC films provide tailored solutions for microfluidic applications. Typical applications include lab-on-a-chip technologies, where the films are used as cover films for microfluidic chips.
Microfluidic diagnostics place demanding requirements on the materials used. The various versions of our COC films offer the right combination of properties for different applications:
- excellent light transmission and brilliance thanks to low intrinsic absorption
- biocompatible and sterilizable
- high chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, and numerous solvents
- high resistance to thermal stress
As a manufacturer of COC films, POLYVANTIS offers a comprehensive range of services – from film extrusion to precision converting in customer-specific dimensions.
Our COC films can be efficiently bonded to injection-molded components using ultrasonic welding, laser welding, or thermal bonding. This enables analysis chips to be sealed quickly, gently, and at low temperatures – ideal for sensitive applications.
